The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has terminated the appointment of a staff member found extorting candidates, the board announced in a bulletin released on Monday.

JAMB did not name the affected worker but said the dismissal formed part of its ongoing effort to sanitize the admission and examination process. The board said the action proved its anti fraud drive was not limited to catching outsiders, noting that internal misconduct would be treated with the same severity.

According to the statement, the board would not shield or excuse any staff member who abuses the trust placed in them by candidates and the public. JAMB said the termination sends a clear signal that its zero tolerance policy on corruption applies to every worker regardless of rank or position.

The board warned all remaining staff against any conduct capable of undermining its integrity or exploiting candidates, stating that offenders would face severe sanctions under existing rules.

This is not the first internal cleanup at JAMB in recent months. Earlier this year, the board dismissed senior officials linked to a syndicate accused of using artificial intelligence to manipulate registration data for underage candidates across multiple states. Separately, JAMB sacked staff accused of selling unauthorized access to its examination portal ahead of the 2026 UTME.

The board reiterated that its resolve to clean up the system extends beyond external fraudsters, stressing that the same determination used against criminal networks outside JAMB is now being applied within its own ranks.
