The National Leader and founder of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has charged the executive of the Obi-Kwankwaso 2027 Diaspora Group to take the lead in the mass mobilization and sensitization of Nigerians in the United Kingdom and across the diaspora ahead of Nigeria's 2027 general elections.

Senator Dickson gave the charge yesterday at a closed-door meeting with the group's Executive Committee in London, a session convened to energize the leadership and sharpen its direction as the countdown to the polls gathers pace.

In attendance were the group leader and Chairman, Dr Peter Uwaibi, the Vice Chairman, Barr. Solomon Obazee, the General Secretary, Chief Alex Ubaka Achebe, the Media and Publicity head, Mr Ray Darlington, and the Mobilization head, Engineer Kenneth Owens-Aghedo.

Several key decisions emerged from the meeting. The executive agreed to a proposed town hall meeting, and to a proposed anti-rigging protest in London expected to draw more than 300 participants. It also resolved to deepen collaboration among support groups and to adopt clear strategies for engaging Nigerians abroad, together with their families and communities back home.

In a significant move, the leadership also agreed to consult all other groups springing up in the UK with a view to bringing them under the Obi-Kwankwaso UK group, in a bid to end fragmentation and present a single, united front.

Chief Alex Achebe, who is also Chairman of Marlex Apartments London, further proposed to host the National Leader on his return to London from the United States.

Senator Dickson commended the executive members for their commitment and stressed the importance of mobilizing and sensitizing Nigerians living in the UK, Ireland and the wider European community.
